Job summary

Kent Campus is seeking a Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic at Kent, OH. This role involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of mobile and stationary power equipment and vehicles with gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel systems.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 2+ years' repair experience, and a valid CDL with endorsements, plus the ability to perform preventive maintenance and keep detailed maintenance records in a busy university shop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 12–18 months formal training with 2 years' experience in vehicle/equipment repairs.
• Must provide all basic tools required for this position.
• Must possess CDL with proper endorsements and a safe driving record, or obtain within 6 months if operating regulated vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair engines and subsystems (fuel, emissions, cooling, ignition, etc.).
• Test and repair hydraulic and electrical sub-systems and control systems.
• Maintain AC generators, battery banks, and other power equipment subsystems.
• Inspect and repair chassis, braking, HVAC, transmissions, and related components.
• Document inspections, maintenance, repairs, and requisitions; maintain inventory and shop cleanliness.
• Potentially train or direct student employees or junior staff.
