Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Vehicle Dynamics Performance Engineer in Michigan to shape driving character by tuning suspension, steering, tires, and chassis systems. You will lead virtual and physical development efforts and collaborate with chassis controls, NVH, energy, and other teams to deliver balanced, high-performance GM vehicles.

The role involves leading integration meetings, coordinating XiL development, evaluating test data, and driving validation plans.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics or a related engineering degree.
5 years of engineering experience with 2 years in Vehicle Dynamics development.

Responsibilities

Define performance targets and guide suspension, steering, and tire tuning to meet vehicle character goals.
Lead vehicle dynamics integration meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Drive virtual development: XiL model availability, Driver-in-the-Loop evaluations, data analysis.
Lead tire and damper development including wet/snow testing and final spec selection.
Guide steering system tuning with suppliers to meet specs.
Develop and execute validation plans and support production launches.
Conduct subjective evaluations across road conditions and present to leadership.
Support cost reduction and product improvements during plant builds.
Stay current on industry trends and benchmarks.
