Position Overview

The Rear Entry Floater is a highly skilled, mechanically inclined production position responsible for supporting daily operations across the Rear Entry conversion line. This position requires demonstrated hands‑on vehicle conversion or automotive upfitting experience and provides production flexibility by working across multiple stages of the vehicle conversion process based on staffing, workflow, and production needs.

The Rear Entry Floater is expected to develop and maintain proficiency across the five primary areas of the Rear Entry conversion process: Teardown, Mechanical, Suspension & Alignment, Finish, and Options. This position serves as a versatile technical resource for the department and assists with the hands‑on training and development of new employees as time and production needs permit.

Key Responsibilities
Production & Technical Support
  • Perform vehicle conversion work across multiple Rear Entry production areas based on daily staffing, workflow, and production priorities.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency across the five primary Rear Entry production areas:
  • Teardown
  • Mechanical
  • Suspension & Alignment
  • Finish
  • Options
  • Move between production stations as directed by the Rear Entry Supervisor or Line Lead to maintain production flow and departmental coverage.
  • Remove OEM vehicle components including interior trim, flooring, seating, fuel tanks, bumpers, and other components in preparation for conversion.
  • Install conversion components, mechanical assemblies, flooring, trim, seating systems, lighting, cameras, wiring harnesses, and other vehicle accessories.
  • Perform mechanical assembly and modification of suspension, exhaust, fuel systems, and other vehicle components.
  • Perform suspension and alignment work using established specifications, procedures, and equipment.
  • Complete finish and options installations according to work instructions and customer specifications.
  • Read and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, work orders, and production documentation.
  • Utilize electronic work orders, ERP, and production tracking systems as required.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, installation, fitment, and production issues and communicate concerns to the Line Lead or Supervisor.
  • Verify completed work meets established quality standards before advancing the vehicle to the next stage of production.
Training & Employee Support
  • Assist with hands‑on training of new employees in areas of demonstrated proficiency as time and production needs permit.
  • Demonstrate proper work methods, tool usage, work instructions, quality expectations, and safe work practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to less experienced employees when needed.
  • Reinforce established production processes and elevate training, quality, or performance concerns to the Line Lead or Supervisor.
  • Support cross‑training efforts throughout the Rear Entry department.
Quality & Safety
  • Perform all work in accordance with established engineering specifications, work instructions, and company quality standards.
  • Identify workmanship, fitment, or quality concerns and communicate issues before the vehicle advances in the production process.
  • Follow all company safety policies and required PPE requirements.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, production equipment, and company vehicles as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
QualificationsRequirements & Qualifications
Experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of hands‑on vehicle conversion or automotive upfitting experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience performing vehicle conversion or automotive upfitting required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in vehicle conversion work including mechanical assembly, vehicle modification, installation, and/or finish work.
  • Experience working across multiple stages of the vehicle conversion process strongly preferred.
  • Experience with mobility vehicles, commercial vehicles, specialty vehicles, or similar automotive upfitting preferred.
  • Experience training or mentoring employees in a manufacturing or automotive environment preferred.
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated hands‑on technical ability.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, installation, and fitment issues.
  • Working knowledge of automotive mechanical systems, components, and vehicle assembly.
  • Experience using hand tools, pneumatic tools, power tools, and production equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and production documentation.
  • Ability and willingness to develop and maintain proficiency across multiple production processes.
  • Experience using ERP systems, electronic work orders, or production tracking systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing production demands.
  • Demonstrated reliability, teamwork, and willingness to support production needs throughout the department.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, squat, reach, and perform repetitive work throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and heavier components with assistance.
  • Ability to work in and around vehicles throughout the conversion process.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial noise, moving equipment, power tools, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to safely operate required tools and equipment and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Screenings Required

  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check conducted prior to employment and annually thereafter.
