Job summary

Intramotev is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer on the Controls team in St. Louis, MO to own the control stack from server-side trip planning to onboard execution.

You will collaborate with Perception, Embedded and Applications teams, building safe, testable software for real-world rail vehicles and freight systems. The role emphasizes hands-on, safety-critical work with a small team, occasional travel, and a focus on delivering robust software for autonomous controls and real-time

Qualifications

• Approximately 2 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software.
• Strong problem-solving ability and ability to break down ambiguous problems.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and maintainable systems.
• Comfort with languages: Python, C, C++, Rust, Go, MATLAB/Simulink, or ramp into new systems languages quickly.
• Comfort with networked components on ground and vehicle.
• Discipline writing unit and integration tests with regression tests.
• Proficiency with Git in collaborative workflows.
• Comfort in a Linux command-line environment.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and knowing when they help or hinder.
• Willingness to expand into new technical areas as needed.
• Teamwork and independent contributor mindset.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• U.S. Person (no immigration sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Trip planning and dispatch logic for server-side modules.
• Onboard execution modules for vehicle control.
• Prototype and harden code into production quality across languages.
• Build and harden real-time messaging between server and onboard software.
• Maintain data integrity for track and vehicle interfaces.
• Collaborate with Perception, Embedded, and Applications teams.
• Write tests, perform debugging, and contribute to code reviews.
• Support field testing and vehicle integration when needed.
