Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is hiring multiple Electronics Technicians with security system experience. Positions are based out of Colorado, Arizona, or Nevada, with 75%+ travel to support PACS at substations and facilities across several states.

The role requires clean background, DoD/DoS guideline familiarity, and strong field installation skills. You will install and maintain intrusion detection, access control, CCTV, and other security systems, reading schematics and wiring plans, and

Qualifications

  • Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and servicing intrustion detection and access control systems.
  • Familiarity with NEC grounding and electrical safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics and blueprints.
  • Experience with IP video surveillance systems and diverse security technologies.

Job description

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is looking to hire several Electronics Technician with Security System expreience. Candidate can be based out of our Denver CO, Phoenix AZ, OR Las Vegas NV.

The teams will support the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) by traveling to various locations to provide support to the Physical Access Control System (PACS) at electrical substations, switchyards, and facilities throughout Arizona, California, and Nevada, Colorado, Nevada, Nebraska, and Wyoming to name a few.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as an Electronics Technician on assigned projects and comfortable working independently or with a small team.
  • Works with federal agencies on the migration, upgrades, and installation of physical security infrastructure at various electrical substation facilities.
  • Responsible for installing Electronic and Technical Security Systems to DoD and DoS specific guideline and requirements.
  • Reads, interprets, and draws electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical schematics
  • Familiar with and uses test equipment such as multimeters and cable testers (e.g., Fluke, Klein, Ideal).
  • Follows strict installation wiring guidelines and reads and interprets building construction plans (blueprints).
  • Knowledgeable with National Electric Code (NEC) requirements and practices such as grounding and electrical safety.
  • Performs maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of security wiring & power circuits.
Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a customer clearance (this includes a local and national background check).
  • Current and valid Driver’s License. This role may require that company vehicles are driven.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and servicing Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Physical Access Control (PACS), Internet Protocol (IP) video surveillance systems and other security systems.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; OR
  • A graduate of military basic and advanced electronic or communication technician courses. (In lieu of military training must have at least 5 years of technical experience with installation of electronics/electrical systems).
  • Must have experience as a technician with installation of electronics/electrical systems including, but not limited to:
    • Intrusion Detection Systems.
    • Access Control Systems.
    • Closed Circuit Television.
    • Security Cameras.
    • Intercom Systems.
    • Mass Notification Systems.
    • Conduit Installation.
    • Low Voltage Electrical Systems.
  • Technical Demands:
    • able to use basic test equipment and the preparation of site test data and documentation.
    • ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment, be detailed orientated, and self-motivated.
    • strong verbal communication skills in order to update client as well as team members and Lead on status.
    • ability to work independently or under limited supervision.
    • ability to install, test and troubleshoot Electronic and Technical Security System equipment, read schematics and maintenance manuals.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity of a multitude of systems including but not limited to:
    • DoD and DoS Security Systems and requirements.
    • Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems such as Lenel, Software House, Milestone.
    • IP CCTV Surveillance Systems such as Milestone.
    • Mechanical and electromechanical locking systems (electronic strikes, locks, mag’s, etc.).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and Adobe Acrobat.
Physical Demands
  • Travel Requirements: Varies but expected travel is to exceed 75%.
  • Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, & kneel up to 75% of the time.
  • Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and visual acuity (depth perception).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), Inside or Outside / Noise levels.
  • Travel away from home for periods of time including weekends.

Travel and Work locations: While position is based based out of Colorado, Arizona OR Nevada, you may travel to other regions should there be a need or gaps in coverage from that regions team. This is a 75-90% Road Warrior position (including being gone for weekends).

Typical Work schedule: Monday - Thursday (4x10hr) schedule, with flexibility to work paid overtime if approved and requested. Travel with the team to next location on Fridays.

Additional pay: OT if required and approved and per-diem.
