Job summary

General Dynamics - IT is seeking a VDI Engineer to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. You will engineer and secure Citrix XenDesktop/NetScaler, design Microsoft infrastructure including Azure Virtual Desktop, and collaborate with government stakeholders to resolve technical issues.

The role requires a TS/SCI clearance, DoD 8570 IAT II, and a bachelor's degree with extensive relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain a polygraph; DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with desktop application packaging and deployment infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, AppLayering, and Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM).
• Experience with RDS on Windows Server 2019/2022 and Azure Virtual Desktop.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, design, test, implement, maintain, secure and manage the full lifecycle of Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler in a large Enterprise environment.
• Design and support Microsoft infrastructure solutions, including Azure Virtual Desktop, on‑prem, cloud and hybrid.
• Interact with Government stakeholders on technical considerations for issues and conflicts.
• Engineer, implement, mitigate, monitor and tune VDI to obtain ATO for new VDI solutions.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for VDI solutions, processes and procedures.

As a VDI Engineer supporting the Government, you will be trusted to engineer new and improved enhancements for existing and emerging virtual desktop technologies.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Engineering, designing, testing, implementing, maintaining, securing, and managing the full life cycle of the complex Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler solutions deployed in the large Enterprise environment
• Designing and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions, including Azure Virtual Desktop, on-prem, cloud and hybrid
• Interacting with Government stakeholders regarding technical considerations for problems, issues, or conflicts
• Engineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning VDI environment and management software to obtain Authorize to Operate (ATO) for new VDI solutions
• Managing Citrix products (Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, ADC, Provisioning)
• Managing Azure products (Azure Virtual Desktop)
• Operating and executing scripting skills in PowerShell or Python
• Providing Tier 3 and above support as needed (troubleshooting, problem resolution support, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA))
• Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and procedures related to engineering projects

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a polygraphMust meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experienceMinimum of 10 years’ relevant experience
• Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructure for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies
• Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, AppLayering, and/or Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM)
• Hands-on experience with SQL Clustering Failover
• Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures
• Expertise in the Windows 10/11 – Standard Operating Environment (SOE), imaging, evergreen, etc.
• Experience with Remote Desktop Service (RDS) on Windows Server 2019/2022Ability to deploy Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) on Windows Server 2019/2022
• Preferred certification(s):Managing Modern Desktops (MD-101) CWS-215: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 Administration On-Premises and in Citrix Cloud Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (1Y0-312) Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop
