Job summary

PGTEK seeks an Azure Virtual Desktop Architect to lead complex AVD initiatives and contribute to IP and offer development. You will facilitate current state / future state workshops and participate in strategic planning with Dell Account Teams and Customer project teams to develop the solution vision and scope.

You will work with customers to troubleshoot deployment and integration challenges, coach junior consultants, and provide oversight on multiple projects, delivering high‑quality results

Qualifications

• 12+ years in customer‑facing IT roles or equivalent.
• 5+ years leading multi‑workstream projects, facilitating workshops and architecture.
• 3+ years of Day 2 Azure Virtual Desktop configuration (on‑prem or cloud).
• Strong infra knowledge: IAM, OUs, GPOs, hypervisor, backups, endpoints.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to customer virtualization desktop strategies.
• Design discussions on on‑prem vs cloud desktop deployment.
• Architect and oversee end‑to‑end AVD implementations.
• Ensure integration with client systems to meet needs.
• Escalation point for complex AVD issues; drive root cause analysis.
• Lead projects and document/present delivery quality.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of customer virtualization desktop strategies.
• Facilitate design discussion around proposed architecture for on-premises vs. a cloud desktop deployment.
• Design, architect, and oversee the end-to-end implementation and deployment of customized AVD solutions.
• Ensure seamless integration with existing systems and applications to meet client needs.
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex AVD-related issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and deliver ongoing support to uphold the stability and performance of AVD environments.
• Serve as a project lead and drive high quality delivery experience for customers including excellent documentation, oral and presentation skills.

• Understand the customers strategic goals, business, and technology challenges to guide the customer on adopting a modern virtualized desktop solution.
• Assist organizations in establishing near term goals and prioritize milestones for their VDI program.
• Factor in the people, process, and technology aspects of the proposed architecture solution.
• Work with a broad spectrum of customer stakeholders that own a shared responsibility for a successful deployment and adoption of VMware Horizon

Required Skills And Education

• 12+ years of professional experience in customer facing IT roles with a bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.
• 5+ years of experience navigating complex multi-workstream projects and leading overall technical workshops, facilitation, and architecture around VDI strategies and approach.
• 3+ years of experience of performing advanced Day 2 configuration of Azure Virtual Desktops (On-Prem or in the Cloud) environments.
• Strong understanding of the core infrastructure, management, and common integration points for making a virtual desktop environment useable; {i.e., IAM, OUs, GPOs, Hypervisor, Database, Bandwidth and Protocols, User Personas/Profiles, Peripherals, Patching, Backups, Anti-Virus, Endpoints, etc.}
• Advanced knowledge of performing architecture reviews of replatforming from one (1) VDI platform to AVD (On-Prem or in the Cloud)
• Hands-on experience with any two (2) of the following: Horizon, Citrix, Lakeside Systrack, NVIDIA Licensing Server, or Wyse Device Manager, but not required.
• Passion for being a true "consultant", driving change and transformation.
