Job summary

Austin Commercial, part of Austin Industries, Inc., seeks a VDC Manager II for the Houston Texas Division to lead BIM/VDC services regionally. The role focuses on training, deployment across projects, and market development of BIM/VDC capabilities.

Responsibilities include coordinating model development, BEPs, schedules, and 4D/5D processes, while leading coordination teams and engaging with internal and external stakeholders. This position emphasizes leadership and regional impact.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
• 6-8 years of project management experience.
• Advanced knowledge of BIM/VDC processes and project delivery methods (CMR, DBB, IPD).
• Advanced knowledge of BIM/VDC software, service implementation, and management.
• Proven leadership and strong communication/public speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Increase BIM/VDC service standard training and adoption regionally.
• Manage and implement BIM/VDC services on multiple projects.
• Train project staff on BIM/VDC processes and services.
• Spend time at regional jobsites implementing BIM/VDC processes.
• Market BIM/VDC services internally and externally.
• Present BIM/VDC projects and services at industry conferences and forums.
• Create project-specific BEPs and templates.
• Identify BIM/VDC requirements in technical specifications.
• Create BIM/VDC contract language and consultant agreements on assigned projects.
• Manage BIM/VDC consultants and their business unit.
• Create models including site logistics, structure, interior/exterior architecture, and MEP/FP systems as needed.
• Manage model authoring, revisions, versioning, exchange, validation, and as-builts.
• Create custom model components and families.
• Manage model authoring service providers and sub-trades regionally.
• Support 4D service standards for national adoption and 4D project schedules.
• Support coordination standards for national adoption; lead/manage BIM/VDC coordination on multiple projects.
• Train and support BIM/VDC coordination teams on multiple projects.
• Produce dimensioned drawings for field use on multiple projects.
• Manage BIM/VDC layout and field as-built verification and turnover on multiple projects.
• Support development of 5D Estimating standards and FM strategy for Owner’s needs.
