Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Resource Lab Assistant (Non-Benefited) for the Art Foundation Program within the School of the Arts. The role supports the lab and students with projects, demonstrations, and digital workflow across printers and cutters.

Qualifications include a arts-related Bachelor's and professional Art & Design experience, plus a commitment to respectful, professional interactions with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.

• Operate laser engraver and DTG printer.
• Use vinyl cutters.
• Clean and maintain lab equipment and facilities.
• Track inventory and schedule lab activities.
• Maintain shared Google calendar.
• Manage print/cut job queue via shared Google folder.
• Develop and update sample library.
• Keep lab organized and clean.

Resource Lab Assistant (Non-Benefited) - Art Foundation Program- School of the Arts

Computer lab monitors will provide support for all equipment housedin the Art Foundation Program resource lab.

Duties include:

• Consulting with students about projects
• Class demonstrations
• Knowledge of Adobe Photo and Video editing software
• Review of digital files and starting prints for:
• Large format printer
• Laser engraver
• Direct to Garment (DTG) printer
• Vinyl cutters
• Cleaning equipment and facilities
• Inventory
• Maintain shared Google calendar
• Maintain queue for all print/cutting jobs via shared Googlefolder
• Developing and adding to ongoing sample library
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the lab andequipment

Engaging in and overseeing special projects based on thecandidates’ area of expertise.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's in the arts or an arts related field or equivalentprofessional experience and training.
• Professional experience in Art & Design
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Fine Arts
• Teaching experience preferred
