VCUarts Adjunct Instructor - Art Foundation Program

Summary

The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Art Foundation Program is recruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for possible adjunct teaching positions. The program will consult the applicant pool and contact qualified candidates whose credentials match our specific teaching needs on an as‑needed basis. The pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises.

Typical Duties

Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course or courses in any of the areas of study offered by the Art Foundation, VCUarts’ first‑year art and design program. A link to art foundation course descriptions from VCU’s Undergraduate Bulletin can be found at https://bulletin.vcu.edu/azcourses/artf/. If an opportunity becomes available, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for the Art Foundation Program and have a desire to work with a student population from all backgrounds and experiences in a collaborative, learning‑centered community of adjunct instructors, students, faculty, and staff.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in a related field, or education, training and professional experience that equates to a terminal degree.
  • Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
