Job summary

Bot Auto is seeking a VCU Software Engineer to design, implement, integrate, and validate production-grade embedded software for advanced vehicle control systems. You will work across requirements, architecture, model-based development, embedded C/C++, AUTOSAR integration, and MIL/SIL/HIL validation.

The role combines hands-on debugging across simulation, bench, and vehicle environments, with collaboration across controls, hardware, and validation teams to ensure safety and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in CS, EE, CE, Automotive Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering embedded software for automotive, robotics, or safety-critical real-time products.
  • Strong embedded C/C++ skills and real-time systems knowledge with microcontrollers, memory constraints, concurrency, and interfaces.
  • Proficient with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow for model-based design, simulation, and production software.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle control concepts, state machines, fault detection, safety mechanisms.
  • Experience with in-vehicle networks and diagnostics including CAN/CAN-FD, UDS, XCP.
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic for app software, RTE, BSW, MCAL interfaces.
  • Experience with MIL/SIL/HIL, bench, or vehicle-level verification and model-based development.
  • Proficiency with version control, code review, CI/CD, debugging workflows, and test automation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the VCU software lifecycle from requirements to release and field support.
  • Define system and software requirements, architecture, interfaces, and fault handling.
  • Translate vehicle requirements into testable software requirements with traceability.
  • Collaborate with controls, hardware, autonomy, validation, and service teams for performance and safety.
  • Develop and optimize VCU software using MATLAB/Simulink and embedded C/C++, including production code generation.
  • Integrate software with AUTOSAR Classic components and layers (ASW, RTE, BSW, MCAL, ECU interfaces).
  • Perform code/model reviews, static analysis, debugging, timing/memory analysis, and optimization.
  • Build/maintain Python-based tools for automation, logging, calibration, and data analysis.
  • Define and execute unit/integration/MIL/SIL/HIL tests; automate CI/CD workflows.
  • Support bench and vehicle integration; diagnose cross-domain issues from logs; drive issues to closure.
  • Coordinate technical decisions; contribute to design reviews, standards, and mentoring.
