Job summary

Stellantis Financial Services seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to develop base software for propulsion and powertrain control systems. The role involves RTOS environments, AUTOSAR, and ISO 26262 considerations for automotive subsystems.

You will design, implement, and validate software with cross-functional teams, including testing and integration of OS, MCAL, CAN, LIN, and DCM components, and work on virtualization and simulation-based methods.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain embedded base software components for propulsion and EE control modules
  • Perform software requirements analysis, design, coding, and unit and integration testing using C/C++
  • Create and execute test plans including white box, black box, and gray box testing
  • Review software requirements, architecture, code, and test documentation to ensure quality and compliance
  • Configure and integrate AUTOSAR basic software modules such as OS, MCAL, CAN, LIN, DEM, DCM, and WDG
  • Work with low‑level drivers and diagnostics to support system‑level functionality
  • Utilize debugging tools, emulators, and compilers for issue identification and resolution
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to define and refine software requirements
  • Support virtualization and simulation‑based development methodologies

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of base software for propulsion and powertrain control systems. This role focuses on low‑level embedded software development within a Real‑Time Operating System (RTOS) environment, supporting next‑generation automotive technologies including internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicle systems. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and validate high‑quality software aligned with AUTOSAR architecture and functional safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain embedded base software components for propulsion and EE control modules
  • Perform software requirements analysis, design, coding, and unit and integration testing using C/C++
  • Create and execute test plans including white box, black box, and gray box testing
  • Review software requirements, architecture, code, and test documentation to ensure quality and compliance
  • Configure and integrate AUTOSAR basic software modules such as OS, MCAL, CAN, LIN, DEM, DCM, and WDG
  • Work with low‑level drivers and diagnostics to support system‑level functionality
  • Utilize debugging tools, emulators, and compilers for issue identification and resolution
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to define and refine software requirements
  • Support virtualization and simulation‑based development methodologies
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related Engineering degree
  • 1+ years total experience with embedded C/C++ software (hand‑coding) in a Real Time Operating System environment
  • Experience in Vector/ETAS/AUTOSAR Basic Software configuration of modules like OS, MCAL, IOHWAB, FEE, WDG, DEM, DCM, CAN, LIN, XCP
  • Experience with multicore microprocessors, ability to interpret hardware schematics, and Functional Safety concepts (ISO 26262)
  • Experience with compilers, emulators (Lauterbach) debuggers, and automation scripting
  • Experience in software verification/validation including white box, black box, and gray box testing
  • Familiarity with automotive software code quality standards like MISRA‑C
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment with minimal effect on productivity
  • Experience using data acquisition tools like ETAS, INCA, CANoe, CANalyzer
  • Experience with NXP Cobra‑55, Aurix TC family of automotive microprocessors
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Automotive experience either at work or university, such as Formula SAE or SAE EcoCar
  • Experience in Vector SLP communication stack configurations and implementation of CAN/LIN/XCP
  • Experience with Electrobit EBTREOS Studio MICROSAR configuration
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, hybrid, battery electric, and/or vehicle subsystems
  • Strong experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in simulation/virtual methodologies and/or tools
  • Experience implementing Embedded Real‑Time Controls and Software solutions
