Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to support VMware vSphere, SDDC Manager, and VCF tasks in a production environment. The role emphasizes on-site work with 24/7 coverage and on-call readiness, ensuring stability and efficient incident response.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years in virtualization and infrastructure automation (PowerCLI, Python, or Ansible) and a solid understanding of compute, storage, and networking in data centers. HDR, Inc.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in infrastructure operations or virtualization.
• Hands-on VMware vSphere administration and ESXi host/cluster management.
• Solid Linux and Windows Server administration knowledge.
• Experience with automation tools (PowerCLI, Python or Ansible).
• Familiarity with datacenter concepts: compute, storage, networking, patching, monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operational support for the VCF private cloud platform.
• Administer SDDC Manager, workload domains, and vSphere cluster operations.
• Execute routine platform tasks: host adds/removals, cluster maintenance, certificates, health checks.
• Assist with VCF lifecycle: patches, upgrades, remediation activities.
• Provision infrastructure resources and support deployment of workload domains.
• Monitor platform health, escalation of risks and recurrent issues.
• Participate in incident response as a first responder for infra/platform issues.
• Maintain IAAC templates, standard builds, and golden VM images.
• Cross-train across compute, storage, and networking components.
• Maintain runbooks, docs, and knowledge articles.
