Job summary

HDR is seeking a VCF Platform Engineer I to support day-to-day operations of the private cloud platform. You will work with SDDC Manager, vSphere, and associated cluster operations to ensure service stability and performance.

You will manage hosts, clusters, patches, and lifecycle activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes on-site presence with a schedule covering standard daytime shifts and on-call flexibility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in infrastructure operations, virtualization, or systems administration.
• Hands-on VMware vSphere administration experience.
• Experience managing ESXi hosts, clusters, and VMs.
• Familiarity with IaC concepts and repeatable deployment methods.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server administration.
• Experience with scripting/automation tools such as PowerCLI, Python, or Ansible.
• Understanding of core datacenter concepts: compute, storage, networking, patching, monitoring.
• Ability to support production tasks with change control and service stability.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for the VCF private cloud platform.
• Administer SDDC Manager, workload domains, and vSphere clusters.
• Perform host adds/removals, cluster maintenance, certificate updates, and health checks.
• Assist with VCF lifecycle operations including patching, upgrades, and remediation.
• Provision infrastructure resources and support deployment of workload domains and VMs.
• Monitor platform health, utilization, and capacity; escalate risks to senior engineers.
• Participate in incident response for infrastructure and platform issues.
• Maintain infrastructure-as-code templates, standard builds, and golden VM images.
• Cross-train across compute, storage, and networking within VCF.
• Maintain operational docs, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
