Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a qualified Vascular Technologist to provide and manage patient care in a vascular lab setting. You will plan, document, and interpret tests, ensuring accurate charge entries and patient-centered service.

Responsibilities include managing patient flow, coordinating with physicians, and maintaining high professional standards while fostering teamwork and continuous learning in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or registry eligible.
  • ARDMS or CCI certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
  • Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manages patient care within clinical area. Ensures patient education.
  • Manages patient flow through the clinic.
  • Participates in CQI.
  • End of day – reviews tests with Vascular Lab Physician for approval and signature; if clerical staff is absent, Xerox tests to be mailed and file completed tests.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrates responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
  • Considers cultural and age-specific needs when participating in procedures and caring for pre-operative and post-operative vascular patient populations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

General Responsibilities To provide and manage patient care in a clinical area for specific age and patient populations. To implement technologist-specific duties. To utilize critical thinking skills in the evaluation of care and the triage of patients. To display good rapport and professionalism with all customers and members of the multidisciplinary healthcare delivery team. To plan and organize activities. To demonstrate good communication skills. To maintain productive interpersonal relationships. To react appropriately under stressful situations. To teach and direct others. To thoroughly and accurately document patient and test information. To enter test information into computer, interpret and print results. To make all necessary copies for disbursement and correctly enter information on charge ticket using the appropriate ICD-9 and CPT codes. Key Duties & Responsibilities

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Licenses / Certifications / Registrations Currently Registered Vascular Technologist/Sonographer required or registry eligible. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certificate from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
