Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Student Sonographer Intern to assist vascular sonographers, preparing patients and learning ultrasound procedures in a real-world clinical setting.

You will work under supervision to gain hands-on imaging experience, operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, and participate in imaging department activities while benefiting from tuition reimbursement and loan forgiveness opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited Cardiovascular Sonography, Echocardiography, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

Responsibilities

• Assist vascular sonographers with patient preparation, positioning, and education to ensure a comfortable experience.
• Observe and participate in vascular ultrasound procedures under supervision to gain hands-on clinical experience.
• Learn operation, maintenance, and care of ultrasound equipment and ensure exam rooms are prepared.
• Support image acquisition, measurements, and preliminary documentation under guidance of senior staff.
• Collaborate with vascular and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality diagnostic services.
• Follow patient privacy, safety and hospital policies with professionalism and ethics.
• Participate in educational opportunities, case reviews, and feedback sessions to enhance knowledge.
• Assist with department operations and other duties as assigned.

• Assist vascular sonographers with patient preparation, positioning, and education to help ensure a comfortable and positive experience throughout the exam process.
• Observe and actively participate in vascular ultrasound procedures under direct supervision, gaining valuable hands‑on clinical experience in a patient care setting.
• Learn the operation, maintenance, and proper care of ultrasound equipment, ensuring exam rooms and imaging systems are prepared and ready for daily use.
• Support image acquisition, measurements, and preliminary documentation while developing technical sonography skills under the guidance of experienced sonographers.
• Collaborate with vascular and multidisciplinary care teams to help deliver high‑quality diagnostic services and exceptional patient care.
• Follow all patient privacy, safety, infection prevention, and hospital policies while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethical practice.
• Participate in educational opportunities, case reviews, team discussions, and feedback sessions designed to enhance clinical knowledge and professional development.
• Contribute to the efficiency and success of the imaging department by assisting with department operations and performing additional responsibilities as assigned.
