Job summary

Guthrie Clinic is seeking a vascular ultrasound tech to perform non-invasive testing across peripheral vessels. The role requires travel to Guthrie offices in New York and Pennsylvania.

A high school diploma is required, with an associate degree preferred and RVT certification or registry eligibility. Candidates should have 12 months of vascular ultrasound experience and be prepared to complete CPR training within six months.

Qualifications

• Twelve months of full-time clinical ultrasound/vascular experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Know the vascular system, diseases, and symptoms.
• Perform ultrasound testing on carotid, peripheral arteries, veins, and abdominal vasculature.
• Recognize abnormal findings and report to the Technical Director or Vascular Surgeon.
• Prepare results for interpretation within an approximate time period.
• Clean and calibrate equipment between patients.
• Promote Guthrie Clinic and Vascular Department professionally; participate in staff meetings.
• Complete annual mandatory trainings (OSHA, compliance) and coding classes within one year.
• Fill in for other vascular staff; assist with scheduling and phones.
• Travel between worksites and unload equipment; know emergency numbers.
• Maintain excellent communication and computer skills.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Perform non-invasive vascular testing on peripheral vessels. The Incumbent must be able to travel to other Guthrie Clinic offices in New York and Pennsylvania, when required.

Education, License & Cert

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.

Incumbent should hold or be Registry eligible for RVT through ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International). CPR training required within six-months of hire. Registry eligible candidates must sit for and pass registry within six (6) months of hire.

Experience

Twelve months of full-time clinical ultrasounds/vascular experience is preferred.

This position will involve some travel.

Essential Functions

• 1. Responsible for knowing the vascular system, diseases, and symptoms.
• 2. Perform ultrasound testing on the carotid and peripheral arteries, veins, and abdominal vasculature.
• 3. Recognize abnormal findings and report them to the Technical Director or Vascular Surgeon reading.
• 4. Properly prepares results for interpretation, within an approximate time period.
• 5. Responsible for proper cleaning of equipment between patients.
• 6. Responsible for proper calibration of equipment on a regular basis.
• 7. Promotes the Guthrie Clinic and the Vascular Department in a professional manner. Participates in monthly staff meetings, assists in orientation of new employees, and demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments.
• 8. Accept responsibility for completion of all annual mandatory training (OSHA, compliance, etc.) and attending Coding classes within one year of employment.

Other Duties

• 1. Assist in smooth departmental operations by filling in for other members of the vascular ultrasound staff, answer vascular lab related phones, schedule add on studies as necessary. Late day technician is expected to stay in clinic until all patients have been taken care of unless physician states otherwise.
• 2. Travel between worksites and unloading equipment at work sight.
• 3. Responsible for knowing emergency numbers and how to respond accordingly
• 4. Must possess excellent communication and computer skills.
• 5. Other duties as assigned.
