Position Summary
Perform non-invasive vascular testing on peripheral vessels. Must be able to travel to other Guthrie Clinic offices in New York and Pennsylvania when required.
Education, License & Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Must hold or be registry-eligible for RVT through ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International).
- CPR training required within six months of hire.
- Registry eligible candidates must sit for and pass registry within six months of hire.
Experience
Twelve months of full-time clinical ultrasounds/vascular experience preferred.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for knowing the vascular system, diseases, and symptoms.
- Perform ultrasound testing on the carotid and peripheral arteries, veins, and abdominal vasculature.
- Recognize abnormal findings and report them to the Technical Director or Vascular Surgeon reading.
- Properly prepares results for interpretation, within an approximate time period.
- Responsible for proper cleaning of equipment between patients.
- Responsible for proper calibration of equipment on a regular basis.
- Promotes the Guthrie Clinic and the Vascular Department in a professional manner. Participates in monthly staff meetings, assists in orientation of new employees, and demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments.
- Accept responsibility for completion of all annual mandatory training (OSHA, compliance, etc.) and attending coding classes within one year of employment.
Other Duties
- Assist in smooth departmental operations by filling in for other members of the vascular ultrasound staff, answer vascular lab related phones, schedule add-on studies as necessary. Late day technician is expected to stay in clinic until all patients have been taken care of unless physician states otherwise.
- Travel between worksites and unloading equipment at work sight.
- Responsible for knowing emergency numbers and how to respond accordingly.
- Must possess excellent communication and computer skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
