Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Sonographer IHR to perform vascular sonography in line with our policies, ensuring patient safety and comfort. The role involves reviewing orders, educating patients, preparing contrast as needed, and operating imaging equipment to deliver high-quality results.

Minimum education includes an accredited Ultrasound Sonography program with RDMS credentials and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography program.
• BLS for Healthcare providers is required.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with one credential within 3 months of graduation; new graduates need Certificate of Completion from the college.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
• Monitors patient condition and reports changes as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies; selects exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots and reports equipment malfunctions; positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
• Analyses results and addresses image quality issues; transmits and reports scan results.

RDMS credential within 3 months of graduation
