Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking an experienced Vascular Access Nurse to provide expert consultation, assessment, placement, and management of vascular access devices across the Adult Services Division. You will perform PICC insertions, midlines, and ultrasound-guided IVs with post-insertion care, while leading infection prevention and CLABSI initiatives.

The role requires 2+ years of acute care RN experience, PICC insertion within 6 months, strong IV skills, and excellent organizational and communication

Qualifications

• Two or more years of recent clinical RN experience in acute care settings.
• Recent PICC insertion experience within last 6 months in acute care settings.
• Excellent Peripheral IV skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation, assessment, placement, and management of vascular access devices across the Adult Services Division.
• Place PICCs, midlines, and ultrasound-guided peripheral IVs; manage post-insertion care.
• Identify and document complications; evaluate products; standardize supplies; help develop policies and procedures; contribute to performance improvement.
• Act as a clinical resource; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and nursing staff.
• Participate in program evaluation, data analysis, committee work, and education to improve patient outcomes and infection prevention.
