Job summary

Marshall Public Schools is seeking a high school track coach to develop athletes’ skills, strategy, and conditioning while upholding district values. The role involves teaching fundamentals, coordinating practices in-season, and ensuring safety in all athletic facilities.

Responsibilities include coaching individuals, scheduling practices, enforcing discipline and sportsmanship, maintaining records, and communicating with families and the community to promote the athletic program.

Qualifications

• Experience in track and field is desirable for candidates.
• Knowledge of track and field fundamentals and coaching principles.

• Represent the district positively in interactions with students, families, staff and community
• Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic director

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous track experience is desirable
• Knowledge and background in track and field

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The coach will teach student athletes the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for the students to achieve a degree of both individual and team success. The coach will carry out the aims and objectives of the track program as outlined by the athletic department.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved
• Plan and schedule the regular program of practice in season
• Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or are in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students
• Maintain competency in rules, rule interpretations, meet procedures, coaching techniques and general information about all aspects of the sport
• Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork
• Develop a consistent and positive public communications procedure through the school and media to inform the parents and the general public about the athletic program
• Demonstrate an understanding of the district's mission, vision and strategic priorities and actively works to advance them through daily practice and professional conduct
• Contribute to the culture and climate of the district by modeling its core values, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment and serving as a committed representative of the district's identity and purpose in all interactions with students, families, staff and the broader community
• Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic director
