Job summary

The Northwest School in Seattle seeks a Track & Field Varsity Assistant Coach to support the program for the upcoming season. This stipend-only position involves coaching across sprints, distance, throws, and jumps, and fostering a culture of character, commitment, and teamwork.

We value diversity and inclusion, expect adherence to WIAA rules, and require background checks. The role reports to the Athletic Director and runs March 1, 2027 through May 29, 2027, with weekday and some Saturday

Qualifications

• Expert coaching at the high school or collegiate level.
• WIAA coaching education training sessions must be completed.
• Clear Washington State background check is required.

Responsibilities

• Support the head coach in all aspects of coaching the team and program.
• Teach fundamentals, techniques, and skills using positive, developmentally appropriate methods.
• Prioritize athlete health and safety at all times.
• Generate enthusiasm, commitment, and teamwork among students for the program.
• Model respectful interaction and sportsmanship with athletes, opponents, colleagues, and parents.
