Job summary

Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL seeks a Girls Soccer Varsity Head Coach to lead the program under the supervision of the athletic director and building principal. The coach will plan training, foster a positive team culture, and coordinate with staff, students, and families to build a competitive program.

Candidates must hold an Illinois teaching certificate or IHSA-certified coaching credentials, complete concussion and Title IX training, and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification as mandated by IHSA.
• CPR and AED certification compliance for all high school athletic coaches.
• IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols per state/federal regulations.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance per Illinois School Code and IHSA.
• Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws in athletics.
• In-depth knowledge of the sport, rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Prior successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• Strong instructional skills in fundamentals, strategy, and conditioning.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable athletic program.
• Coaching Certification: ASEP/NFHS or IHSA-approved program for non-teaching staff.
• Concussion Certification validity and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of the program.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills in program implementation.
• Foster a cooperative, enthusiastic, and inclusive environment for students, faculty, coaches, and parents.
• Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and exhibit professional conduct.
• Inspire and motivate student‑athletes and staff by modeling dedication and professionalism.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement training programs based on current best practices.
• Instruct athletes and assistants in fundamentals, team strategies, and safety protocols.
• Ensure adherence to all regulations regarding high school athletics.
• Collaborate with the Athletic Director to develop a competitive annual game schedule.
• Maintain equipment inventory and proper use of school-owned athletic gear.
• Report violations or incidents impacting safety or eligibility to Athletic Director and IHSA.
