Job summary

Avondale School District's Avondale High School in Michigan seeks a Boys Varsity Assistant Swim Coach to support the athletic program and develop student-athletes in the pool and in the classroom.

The successful candidate will coach practices, assist in scheduling, ensure safety, oversee equipment, and collaborate with administrators, parents, and the Athletic Director to maintain a positive team culture and meet Master Agreement terms.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching swim at high school level.
• Experience or plan to build a K-12 swim program.
• Knowledge of scheduling practices and off-season workouts.
• Ability to teach techniques and fundamentals of the sport.
• Ability to demonstrate skills and understand rules of the sport.
• Responsible for equipment and facilities management.
• Conduct structured practices within the allotted times.
• Be an example of good character and sportsmanship.
• Coordinate fundraising for team supplies and needs.
• Collaborate with administrators, students, parents, and community.

Responsibilities

• Develop a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.
• Coordinate offseason conditioning, strength training, and skill development programs.
• Ensure player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.
• Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
