Job summary

Avondale School District seeks a Girls Varsity Assistant Swim Coach to lead our high school swim program. The role supports the athletic department with instruction, practice planning, and character development for student-athletes.

Hours are 10-20 per week, on site at Avondale High School, reporting to the Athletic Director. Ideal candidate demonstrates leadership, strong communication, and a commitment to developing athletes both in and out of the pool.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching swim.
• Plan and develop a K-12 swim program.
• Knowledge of scheduling practices and off-season workouts.
• Teach techniques and fundamentals of the sport.
• Demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport.
• Know the rules and regulations of swimming.
• Care for equipment and facilities.
• Conduct structured practices within time limits.
• Be a positive example of character and sportsmanship.
• Coordinate fundraisers for team supplies.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction of high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of swim.
• Instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, and self-discipline.
• Develop a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship and academics.
• Coordinate offseason conditioning and skill development programs.
• Maintain storage and care of school-owned equipment.
