Job summary

Mississippi Department of Transportation seeks a first-level vocational worker to perform technical tasks with basic equipment and to assist in reliable operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure.

Role includes repairing signals, installing signs, applying herbicide and snow/ice chemicals, striping and pothole patching, traffic control, and disaster response as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; substitutions may be made with relevant experience.
• Ability to operate basic maintenance equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

• Repair traffic signals as needed.
• Install and maintain road signs.
• Apply herbicide, pesticide, and snow/ice chemicals.
• Conduct pavement striping and traffic control.
• Patch potholes and assist in related maintenance tasks.
• Respond to natural and man-made disasters as required.
