Job summary

The Mississippi Department of Transportation seeks a first-level vocational position responsible for basic equipment operation and maintenance. Duties may include repairing traffic signals, installing and maintaining road signs, applying herbicide, pesticide, and snow and ice chemicals, striping, traffic control, pothole patching, and disaster response.

A High School Diploma or GED is required; in some cases experience may substitute education.

Responsibilities

• Repair traffic signals and electrical systems as required.
• Install and maintain road signs and markings.
• Apply herbicide, pesticide, and snow/ice chemicals per policy.
• Perform striping and traffic control duties.
• Pothole patching and surface repairs as needed.
• Respond to natural and man-made disasters when required.
