Job summary

Brightside Academy is seeking a dependable Van Driver to transport students safely across assigned routes in the Pittsburgh area. You will ensure timely arrivals, maintain logs, and perform vehicle inspections to keep buses in top condition.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks. Role may include duties as Assistant Teacher in a dual-role setup.

Qualifications

• Ability to remain patient and composed under pressure.
• Demonstrated time management and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to assigned route and schedule.
• Ensure the safety of all students while transporting.
• Arrives punctually at each route location.
• Maintain accurate driver logs and records.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; report issues.
• Keep bus clean and mechanically sound at all times.
• Monitor vehicle maintenance and refuel as needed.
• Communicate with dispatch via two-way radio.
• Follow all safety rules and report hazards.
• Escalate inappropriate student behavior.
• Obey traffic laws at all times.
• Assist students with boarding and alighting as needed.
• Attend all safety trainings.

Job Responsibilities for Van Driver.

• Maintains the entry of driver’s log.
• Performs pre and post vehicle inspections; reports same.
• Responsible for a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.
• Monitors vehicle maintenance; refuels as required or requested.
• Communicates with dispatch via two-way radio.
• Complies with all general safety rules.
• Follows internal reporting for safety hazards.
• Escalates inappropriate student behavior.
• Obeys all traffic laws.
• May assist students with on and off boarding.
• Attends all general safety trainings.

Education/Experience for Van Driver.

High school diploma or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to successfully pass required backgrounds checks including but not limited to:Child Abuse Clearance, State Criminal, FBI Clearance, and drug/alcohol testing. *Must be 21 or older.
