Job summary

The Blossoms at White Hall is seeking a valuable Transportation Aide to safely operate vehicles for resident transport within the long-term care facility. You will assist residents, secure mobility devices, and maintain trip records in a caring, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications include CNA certification, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 80 pounds. Six to twelve months of vehicle experience is preferred; medical/dental benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading and unloading a motor vehicle.
• Any equivalent training or experience in caring for residents with disabilities or in long-term care is a plus.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle.
• Extensive contact with patients/residents in a nursing home facility.
• Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals entering and leaving the vehicle.
• Ensure passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle.
• Secure residents' mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs.
• Keep a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended.
• Document mileage and time for each bus trip.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks and report needed repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
• Extensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facility
• Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
• Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
• Securing residents' mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
• Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
• Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
• Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair

Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
• Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
• Ability to find geographic locations
• Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
• Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Must be CNA certified

Experience:

• Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
• Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
