The Van Driver Aide is responsible for assisting with the safe and timely transportation of individuals/members to and from program sites and other approved locations using an agency vehicle. This position also provides supervision, assistance, and support to individuals while at the program center, contract sites, and community locations.
The Van Driver Aide is directly responsible and accountable to the Program Director. OSHA regulations apply, and the employee must complete required First Aid and CPR training. This position is designated as Level Two under the HIPAA Privacy Rule and is non-exempt under FLSA.
This position includes a two-hour lunch break during the scheduled shift. Applicants should be comfortable with a schedule that may include separate morning and afternoon transportation periods.
Valid Virginia driver's license and acceptable driving record, if required to operate an agency vehicle.
Interest in and ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities.
Ability to successfully complete all agency-required training within the first 90 days of employment.
The successful candidate should have knowledge of or the ability to learn:
Mental illness and intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Basic vehicle and transportation safety procedures.
Basic math and recordkeeping practices.
Safe lifting and transferring techniques.
HIPAA confidentiality, privacy, and security requirements related to protected health information.
