Job summary

Rossford Schools is seeking a dependable Van Driver for the 2026–2027 school year to provide safe transportation for students to and from school and other designated locations. The role requires following routes, schedules, and district safety procedures while maintaining professionalism. This part-time position offers 4.25 hours per day (6:45–9:00 a.m.

and 2:00–4:00 p.m.). A valid driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience and a Passenger Endorsement (or ability to obtain)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with at least five years of licensed driving experience.
• Valid Passenger Endorsement (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
• Successful completion of pre-employment screenings including background check and driving record review.
• Completion of district van driver training and certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and other locations per routes and schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip vehicle safety inspections before each route.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and mechanically sound vehicle; report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Ensure student safety and appropriate behavior during transportation.
• Follow state laws and district transportation procedures and safety regulations.
• Report accidents or safety concerns according to procedures.
• Maintain records and complete required documentation.
• Attend required meetings and training, including annual safety training.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, staff, and community members.
• Assist with emergency transportation procedures as needed.

Position Overview

Rossford Schools is seeking a dependable, safety-focused individual to serve as a Van Driver for the 2026–2027 school year. This position is responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation for students to and from school and other designated locations while maintaining a positive, supportive environment for students and representing the district with professionalism.

Essential Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and other designated locations following assigned routes and schedules.
• Conduct required pre-trip vehicle safety inspections before each route.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and mechanically sound vehicle, reporting maintenance concerns promptly.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation and maintain appropriate student behavior.
• Follow all state laws, district transportation procedures, and safety regulations.
• Report accidents, incidents, unsafe road conditions, or vehicle concerns according to established procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
• Attend required meetings, in-service training, and annual safety training.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, school staff, and community members.
• Assist with emergency transportation procedures as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or Superintendent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with at least five (5) years of licensed driving experience.
• Valid Passenger Endorsement (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
• Successful completion of all required pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check, driving record review, physical examination, and drug screening.
• Successful completion of the district's required van driver training program and certification requirements.
• Ability to safely operate a passenger van in a variety of weather and road conditions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated commitment to student safety.
• Dependability, professionalism, and sound judgment.
• Good health, strong attendance, and a commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace.
