Job summary

Crane Pumps & Systems in Piqua, Ohio seeks a Value Stream Team Leader to coordinate warehousing, machining, material handling, assembling and testing within a value stream. You will work closely with the supervisor to meet customer demand efficiently and safely.

The role emphasizes managing KPI boards, daily performance monitoring, and leading continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen events and standardized work. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or two years related experience required.
  • Knowledge of machining processes and tooling beneficial.
  • Strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and cells.
  • Ability to read safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Owns and manages KPI board.
  • Monitors performance board hourly.
  • Enforce 5S standards in area.
  • Manage team assignments and cell huddles.
  • Prepare machines, tooling, and fixtures; stock bins.
  • Lead kaizen events and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure parts/materials are supplied to process.
  • Develop hourly leads and team members.
  • Handle shift handoffs and training.
  • Respond to calls and confirm quality.

Job description

LOCATION: Piqua, Ohio BUSINESS UNIT: Crane Pumps & Systems DEPARTMENT: Operations SEGMENT: Process Flow Technologies REPORTS TO: Value Stream Supervisor BASIC FUNCTION: The Value Stream Team Leader position is a core part of our Value Stream Organization. This role will work very closely with the associated supervisor to manage warehousing, machining (where applicable), material handling, assembling and testing operations within the given value stream. They will be responsible for coordinating activities to meet customer demand efficiently (lowest cost) and effectively (good Safety and Quality).

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Owns and manages the KPI board
  • Monitors performance board throughout day, minimum once/hour
  • Ensure 5S standards are adhered to in area
  • Manage team member assignment sheet based on known absences
  • Manages Cell(s) huddle
  • Process/Shift start-up and control, i.e. ensure machines, tooling, gages, fixtures are ready, bins are stocked
  • Respond to random calls by team members
  • Confirm quality – routine checks
  • Cover absenteeism
  • Training and cross-training and tracking matrix
  • Work orders for quick maintenance
  • Ensure standardized work is followed (LPA’s)
  • Facilitate small group activities
  • On-going continuous improvement activities
  • Insure parts/materials are supplied to process
  • Develops Hourly Leads and team members
  • Leads kaizen events for Cell(s)
  • Responsible for kaizen target sheet follow-up
  • Leads the “walk around” discussion
  • Root Cause elimination of Problems
  • Manages shift to shift handoff process
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Related product and process experience.
  • Knowledge of general machining processes and tooling would be beneficial.
  • Associate’s degree from four-year college or university; or two years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Natural sense of urgency
  • Basic troubleshooting and root cause identification capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and cells.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
