Job summary

Dresser Utility Solutions is seeking a Value Stream Process Engineer to join the B-Series Value Stream in Houston, TX. The role emphasizes process ownership, continuous improvement, and hands-on leadership on the factory floor to drive safety, quality, and productivity gains.

The candidate will lead problem solving, implement standard work, and collaborate with Product Specialists, Quality Engineers, and Supply Chain to optimize flow and reduce lead times while sustaining improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering or Continuous Improvement role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong Analytical and data-driven decision making
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, casting, assembly, etc.) and production systems
  • Experience with developing Standard work, Work Instructions, Process Documentation, Leading Kaizen, Problem Solving, and CAD tools (2D/3D) and data analysis with Excel/Power BI

Responsibilities

  • Own manufacturing process performance within the B-Series Value Stream.
  • Monitor and improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Identify process constraints, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and sources of variation.
  • Lead Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives across the value stream.
  • Develop and maintain standard work, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements are met.

Role Summary/Purpose

The Process Engineer will be a member of the B-Series Value Stream, reporting to the B-Series Value Stream Manager, and is responsible for the performance, stability, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes within the value stream.

This role owns the identification, prioritization, and implementation of process improvements that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. The Process Engineer is responsible for making problems visible, establishing and maintaining standard work, improving material and information flow, and eliminating waste through application of Continuous Improvement principles.

The Process Engineer serves as the primary technical resource for process-related issues and is responsible for driving sustainable improvements that increase productivity, improve quality, reduce lead time, and enhance the overall customer experience.

The role operates with a hands-on approach, spending significant time on the production floor observing processes, identifying opportunities, implementing improvements, and developing people.

  • Own manufacturing process performance within the B-Series Value Stream.
  • Monitor and improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Identify process constraints, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and sources of variation.
  • Improve process capability and stability through standardization and disciplined problem solving.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are capable of consistently meeting customer requirements.
  • Lead implementation of Continuous Improvement principles throughout the value stream.
  • Establish and maintain visual management systems that make abnormalities immediately visible.
  • Support implementation of pull systems, flow improvements, and waste elimination initiatives.
  • Promote a culture where the customer is the first priority and people are respected and developed.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement where problems are identified and addressed at their source.
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact improvement opportunities based on business impact and lead Kaizen activities that improve flow, productivity, quality, delivery, and cost performance while ensuring improvements are sustained and results are maintained over time.

  • Lead structured root cause investigations using methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, A3 Problem Solving, and PDCA, ensuring corrective actions eliminate root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Support cross-functional problem solving activities with Product Specialists, Product & Quality Engineers, Supervisors, Operators, and Supply Chain.
  • Provide direct support to production operations, observing processes, resolving process-related issues, identifying improvement opportunities, and ensuring alignment between documented standard work and actual execution.
  • Improve workstation design, Layout, ergonomics, Tooling, Fixtures, and material presentation.
  • Develop and maintain standard work, manufacturing work instructions and process documentation.
  • Conduct time studies, line balancing, labor optimization, and process analysis activities to improve manufacturing flow, productivity, capacity utilization, and resource efficiency through process redesign and waste elimination
  • Partner with Product Specialists to ensure customer requirements can be effectively executed within production processes.
  • Partner with Product & Quality Engineers to separate process issues from product design issues.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to implement improvements.
  • Support new product introductions and process changes to ensure successful manufacturing execution.
