Job description

The Process Engineer is a member of a manufacturing value stream, reporting to the Value Stream Manager, and owns the performance, stability, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes within that value stream.

This role owns the identification, prioritization, and implementation of process improvements that raise safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance making problems visible, establishing and maintaining standard work, improving flow, and eliminating waste. It is a hands‑on role that spends significant time on the production floor observing processes, implementing improvements, and developing people, and it serves as the primary technical authority for process-related issues within the value stream.

What You’ll Own
  • Process Performance — Own manufacturing process performance within the value stream, driving safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost; identify constraints, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and sources of variation, and ensure processes consistently meet customer requirements
  • Continuous Improvement Leadership — Lead implementation of Continuous Improvement principles across the value stream; establish visual management that makes abnormalities immediately visible, and support pull systems, flow improvements, and waste elimination
  • Kaizen & Metrics — Identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities by business impact and lead Kaizen activities that improve First Pass Yield, productivity, throughput, lead time, inventory, on‑time delivery, and cost — ensuring improvements are sustained over time
  • Root Cause & Problem Solving — Lead structured root cause investigations using 5-Why, Fishbone Analysis, A3 Problem Solving, and PDCA, ensuring corrective actions eliminate root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Standard Work & Process Design — Develop and maintain standard work, manufacturing work instructions, and process documentation; improve workstation design, layout, ergonomics, tooling, fixtures, and material presentation; conduct time studies, line balancing, and labor optimization
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership — Partner with Product Specialists and Product & Quality Engineers to separate process issues from product‑design issues, work closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering, and support new product introductions and process changes
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering, or Continuous Improvement role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical and data‑driven decision making
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, casting, assembly) and production systems
  • Hands‑on experience developing standard work, work instructions, and process documentation, and leading Kaizen and structured problem solving
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Creo, and SolidWorks)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data analysis, reporting, and performance tracking
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (preferred)
  • Experience working cross‑functionally in a manufacturing or value stream environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
Desired Characteristics
  • Lean and Toyota Production System (TPS) experience is highly preferred — this is a true TPS operation, and demonstrated hands‑on lean / continuous improvement experience is the strongest differentiator
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset with a focus on eliminating root causes, not just symptoms
  • Ability to prioritize work based on business impact
  • Ability to operate as the technical authority for manufacturing processes within a value stream
  • Strong communication skills across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
  • Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, clear documentation, and strong project follow‑through
  • High ownership mindset with accountability for process performance, and a passion for developing people and improving processes
