Job summary

HDR, Inc. invites talented engineering students to join as a Value Engineering/Project Risk Management Intern in Seattle. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, architecture, cost estimating, and stakeholders to support workshop preparation, data collection, and deliverable editing.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in value engineering, risk analysis, and client workshops while developing your communication and technical skills in a collaborative employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects.
  • Connect with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with VE and Risk Leads in workshop prep and information collection.
  • Provide technical editing support of workshop deliverables including reports and presentations.
  • Engage in client-attended value engineering and risk analysis workshops.
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline teams across engineering, architecture, cost estimators, and stakeholders.
  • Communicate across disciplines and support coordination between teams.
  • Travel will be required to attend workshops.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Value Engineering/Project Risk Management Intern, we'll count on you to:
  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
  • Work with the various VE and Risk Leads in workshop preparation and coordination, collection and generation of information during the workshops
  • Provide technical editing support of workshop deliverables, including reports and presentations
  • Engage and participate in client-attended value engineering and risk analysis workshops
  • Work with multidiscipline teams of engineers, architects, cost estimators and stakeholders, because of the diverse nature of our projects
  • Speak and understand design-related aspects across multiple technical disciplines and provide coordination among disciplines
  • Travel will be required to attend workshops
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
