Job summary

EPC Power Corp. in Poway, CA seeks a Value Engineering & Cost Reduction Engineer to drive cost-down initiatives across hardware products while preserving performance and quality.

You'll build should-cost models, lead VA/VE workshops, collaborate with design, supply chain, and manufacturing, and ensure a compliant, reliable design roadmap. Strong cost-analytical skills and experience with ERP/PLM tools are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years in hardware product development, manufacturing, or cost engineering.
• Proven success leading design-to-cost, value engineering, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Experience with power electronics or hardware platforms.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing.
• Proficiency with BOM structures and ERP/PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain should-cost models for products, subassemblies, and commodities.
• Establish BOM cost targets at program start and track via gate reviews.
• Analyze BOM, labor, and overhead to identify cost reductions.
• Lead VE/VA workshops and translate outputs into action registers with owners.
• Partner with procurement on supplier negotiations and cost-down initiatives.
• Champion DTUPC principles across the product lifecycle.
• Coordinate ECO activities for VE-driven design changes.
• Validate cost savings with business cases and benefit tracking.
