Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Cost Reduction Engineer to lead engineering-driven cost reduction initiatives across existing products, ensuring quality and performance while driving profitability. You will perform should-cost analysis, value engineering, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement cost optimization strategies across multiple product lines.

This 100% onsite Poway, CA role offers a pathway to build a new value engineering function with high visibility and impact on product design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in Value Engineering, Cost Engineering, Product Costing, Design-to-Cost, or Cost Reduction activities.
• Demonstrated success leading and delivering measurable cost reduction initiatives.
• Manufacturing industry experience with proven cost savings initiatives and cost analysis.
• Strong understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
• Experience with cost analysis, cost modeling, and should-cost methodologies.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make engineering and business decisions.
• Effective cross-functional communication with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Identify and execute engineering-driven cost reduction initiatives across existing products.
• Perform value engineering and should-cost analysis to uncover cost savings opportunities.
• Evaluate materials, components, assemblies, and manufacturing methods for cost-effective improvements.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Procurement to validate cost optimization strategies.
• Develop data-driven recommendations for cost optimization that meet technical and business goals.
• Drive cost reduction projects from concept through implementation and release.
• Support cost modeling and value engineering across multiple product lines.
• Track and communicate savings opportunities and project results to leadership.
• Improve gross margin through design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly approaches.
• Contribute to creating a new value engineering function with processes and best practices.
