Job summary

Teradyne in North Reading, MA is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead the Value Engineering team within the Semiconductor Test Division. You will guide cross-functional engineers to identify and execute cost-down opportunities while developing a roadmap aligned with business targets.

The role requires 8+ years in mechanical or electrical design for semiconductor equipment, strong CVS credentials or similar, and proven multi-site leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• MS or PhD strongly preferred for advanced roles.
• 8+ years experience in mechanical or electrical design within semiconductor equipment or complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience driving value engineering and cost-down initiatives.
• Certified Value Specialist (CVS) or equivalent a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to manage third-party design resources from suppliers or contract engineering services.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Strong technical fluency across hardware, software, thermal, and mechanical domains.
• Ability to manage, lead, and work with multi-site teams.
• A complete understanding of the development process of electro-mechanical products is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional team of engineers to identify and execute cost-down opportunities.
• Develop and execute the value engineering project roadmap aligned with cost targets.
• Provide technical guidance, oversight and leadership to engineering design staff.
• Establish and report KPIs and cost reduction performance to senior management.
• Drive a culture of cost awareness across engineering teams.
• Accountable for department budgets, personnel administration, project staffing, prioritization, salary reviews, training, and recruitment.
