Job summary

Abacus Group, a leading manager of alternative investment solutions, seeks a Valuation/Portfolio Analyst to join its Manhattan, NY office. The role focuses on developing and analyzing quarterly valuations for existing and new fund investments, using internal and external data.

You will produce performance analyses, apply DCF, comps and precedent transactions, and present findings to senior management and the Board.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in financial services/alternative investment industry.
• Experience with valuation in a professional setting (Big 4 or National preferred).
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and analyze quarterly valuations for funds.
• Produce performance analyses, KPI trackers, and reporting packages for senior management.
• Apply valuation methods (DCF, comps, precedent transactions) to determine security values.
• Evaluate inputs and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors on valuation inquiries.
• Monitor portfolio performance and industry trends; support lender calls.
• Partner with accounting to refine valuations and track credit developments.
• Prepare quarterly valuation reports for Board presentations.

Our client is a leading manager of alternative investment solutions, focusing on alternative credit strategies for individual investors. They seek a Valuation/Portfolio Analyst to join their Manhattan, NY office.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, complete, and analyze quarterly valuations for existing and new fund investments, including both internal and third-party valuations
• Produce performance analyses, variance summaries, KPI trackers, reporting packages, and presentations for senior management
• Apply various valuation methodologies, including DCF, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions, to determine security valuations
• Evaluate the accuracy and form perspectives on quantitative and qualitative inputs, including historical performance, projections, deal terms, industry dynamics, and market pricing, and communicate insights clearly
• Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to address valuation-related inquiries
• Monitor financial performance and industry trends for portfolio investments, participate in lender calls, and support deal amendments as needed
• Partner with accounting and investment teams to refine valuations and stay informed on credit developments
• Manage and update valuation models and portfolio databases
• Prepare quarterly valuation reports for presentation to the Board of Directors

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience in financial services/alternative investment industry
• Straight Big 4 or National experience preferred
• Valuation experience is a plus
• Excellent communication skills
