Job summary

John Hancock, part of Manulife, seeks a Valuation Analyst to support private assets valuation, modeling, and performance reporting. The role focuses on building and maintaining analytic tools and delivering timely, practical recommendations to management.

Key duties include gathering metrics, updating valuation inputs, developing waterfalls, maintaining cap tables, and preparing investor packages and reports for the Investment Committee and auditors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent; master's degree, CPA and/or CFA a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.
  • Experience with valuation techniques or financial modeling for alternatives.
  • Knowledge of fixed income concepts and private equity/private debt.
  • Up-to-date with US GAAP and IFRS; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and track key metrics and benchmarks for investment models.
  • Develop valuation and distribution waterfalls and update models.
  • Maintain portfolio company cap tables and data accuracy.
  • Prepare valuation documentation and investor reporting packages.
  • Support valuation approvals and work with auditors and committees.
  • Prepare periodic portfolio performance reports for senior management.
  • Develop comparable sets to drive valuation recommendations.
