Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock in Boston seeks a valuation professional to support investment valuation, documentation, and reporting for the portfolio. You will develop valuation models, prepare management packages, and collaborate with accounting and auditors to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

The role requires strong Excel/modeling skills, knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS, and ability to communicate with senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent).
  • Master's degree (or international equivalent), CPA and/or CFA a plus.
  • Two (2) + years of experience in a related accounting or financial analyst position, preferably at a major public accounting firm or financial advisory firm.
  • Prior work must include experience with various valuation techniques for debt and equity securities or financial modeling for an Alternatives investment manager.
  • Knowledge of fixed income securities concepts such as bond pricing, duration, yield, and option-adjusted spreads.
  • Understanding of private equity, private debt, or the management of funds a plus.
  • Must be up to date with current issues in US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Sophisticated Excel and model building skills.
  • Ability to communicate with senior levels of management.
  • Ability to work independently with a wide range of people, and meet deadlines while handling several assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Valuation/Performance Reporting: Gather and track key metrics and benchmarks used in investment models.
  • Prepare valuation documentation packages and disclosures for management.
  • Prepare portfolio summaries and periodic reports on overall portfolio performance.
  • Develop and review comparable sets to drive valuation recommendations.
  • Coordinate with accounting staff and external auditors for quarterly/year-end financials.
  • Prepare investor reporting packages.
