Job summary

VetPride Services at Richmond VA Medical Center is hiring a valet to provide courteous customer service and safe vehicle parking and retrieval. You will assist guests, manage vehicle flow, and ensure security and cleanliness of the valet area.

Position requires standing for long periods, outdoor work in varying weather, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds. A valid state driver’s license and clear background are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and understand basic English.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license for the state of employment.
• Pre-employment background and DMV checks required.
• Pre-employment drug screen required.
• Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
• Regular outdoor work in varied weather conditions.
• Attention to safety and following procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet valet customers professionally on arrival and departure.
• Assist customers with opening doors and loading/unloading mobility aids.
• Perform access control for valet area.
• Safely park, retrieve, and drive customer vehicles promptly.
• Inspect vehicles for damage and document findings.
• Secure vehicles and return keys to the podium.
• Follow safety rules and VA regulations at all times.
• Maintain professional appearance and uniforms; report incidents to management.
• Provide directions or information about the property when asked.
• Keep valet area clean and organized.

Salary Range: $13.10 To $18.52 Hourly

This position will provide exceptional customer service while safely and efficiently parking and retrieving guests’ vehicles. We provide a free vehicle parking and retrieval program at VA Medical locations for Military Veteran patients. VetPride Services prioritizes the recruitment and hiring of Veterans and military personnel.

Hourly Rate:$13.10 | Health & Welfare Fringe Benefit:$5.42/hr

Your Health and Welfare Fringe Benefit will be paid to you in cash (not to exceed 40 hours per week). Your total hourly wage will be $18.52.

Location: Richmond VA Medical Center, 1201 Broad Rock Blvd, Richmond, VA 23249.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet valet customers in a professional manner upon their arrival/departure.
• Assist customers with opening doors and loading/unloading wheelchairs or walkers, as needed.
• Perform valet area access control responsibilities.
• Safely drive, park, and retrieve customer vehicles in a timely manner.
• Closely inspect all vehicles for damage and record findings on valet ticket.
• Secure all vehicles and return key tag and keys to the valet podium.
• Follow safe driving procedures and safety protocols at all times.
• Abide by all rules and regulations set by the VA.
• Report to duty in company issued uniform; personal hygiene and a professional appearance is expected at all times.
• Report any incidents, damages, or concerns to management promptly.
• Provide directions or information about the property when requested.
• Keep the valet area clean, organized, and presentable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver’s license in the state of employment.
• Will be subject to a pre-employment criminal background and DMV check.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be able to drive a manual (stick shift) vehicle.
• Regularly work outdoors in inclement weather including rain, snow, heat and cold.
• Must possess strong customer service skills and the ability to respond calmly and professionally when handling conflict.
• Consistent attendance and reliability required.
• Ability to understand, speak, and write basic English.
• Regularly stand for long periods (6-8 hours) and walk quickly.
• Ability to lift to 30 pounds.
• Must have the ability to work independently and within established guidelines, follow directions, and work well with others.
• Technical capabilities and basic computer knowledge.

Experience Requirements

• 1-year experience driving manual and automatic transmissions.
• Valet experience preferred, but not required.
