Qualifications

• Must be a registered nurse with VAD experience and Ohio RN licensure.
• BSN required; advanced certifications preferred.
• Two years of recent clinical nursing experience in cardiology/cardiac surgery.
• Experience developing education materials for patients and staff.
• Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary care and manage data.

Responsibilities

• Educate clinical staff, patients, families and community resources on VAD care.
• Serve as study coordinator or co-investigator for VAD/HF research.
• Act as case manager from referral to implant and discharge.
• Manage VAD program equipment, policies and procedures.
• Promote customer satisfaction through strong nurse-patient relationships.
• Lead collaboration with interdisciplinary team; maintain documentation.
• Adhere to safety policies and make timely decisions.
• Interview and screen patients during clinic visits.
• Provide perioperative education and coordinate insurance matters.
• Offer post-operative education and 24/7 clinical/technical support.
• Maintain data bases and report to medical teams; participate in meetings.
• Coordinate implantation lists and status changes; manage readmissions.
• Develop new metrics and integrate into PV program.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
