Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network seeks a VAD Patient Coordinator, a clinical expert registered nurse who applies clinical expertise in practice and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across hospital and community settings to support VAD patients from pre-implant to discharge.

Responsibilities include education of clinical staff and patients, coordination of care, data collection, and on-call post-discharge support, with active involvement in program development and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

  • BSN degree; recent VAD experience preferred.
  • Two years of recent clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse including two years in cardiology or cardiac surgery.
  • RN license in Ohio and ability to obtain BLS/ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Educator: evaluates competency of clinical staff, patients and families related to VAD care.
  • Researcher: coordinates or co-investigates national VAD/HF studies.
  • Case Manager: manages all VAD patients from referral to discharge with ongoing follow-up.
  • VAD Patient Care Manager: oversees equipment, supplies, policies, and procedures for the VAD program.
  • Customer Satisfaction: promotes improved relationships among patients and staff.
  • Leader: collaborates with interdisciplinary team and Program Manager; strong communication required.
  • Safety: adheres to policies; makes sound decisions beyond written instructions.
  • Interview and screen patients prior to and during clinic appointments within scope of practice.
  • Provide post-operative education and ongoing clinical/technical support (on call 24/7).
