Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Medical Technologist I to join our Vaccines team in Indianapolis, IN. This entry-level role performs routine and complex testing, follows SOPs, and contributes to timely, accurate patient results.

Schedule is Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm. The candidate will work both independently and within a team, maintain quality control, and comply with regulatory guidelines while advancing laboratory operations. A bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or MLS degree is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
• Minimum six months to 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred; two years clinical testing experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Resolve pendings, verify specimens, document discrepancies and notify management when unresolved.
• Operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
