Ideal candidates will have handyman experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to use basic mobile apps for work orders and documentation. On-call evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Complete general handyman and property maintenance repairs.

• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and property inspections.
• Identify issues before they become larger repairs or guest problems.

• Know when to escalate to licensed/specialized contractors.

Yellow Door Vacation Rentals is looking for an experienced, dependable Maintenance Technician/Handyman to help care for our vacation rental properties throughout the Chattanooga area.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting problems, completing common household repairs, and helping us catch maintenance issues before they affect a guest stay.

Handyman and maintenance experience is required. We are looking for someone who can walk into a property, assess a problem, determine the appropriate next step, and complete the repair when it falls within their skill set.

Responsibilities

• Complete general handyman and property maintenance repairs
• Troubleshoot common plumbing, electrical, appliance, HVAC, lock, and household issues
• Complete minor repairs, replacements, installations, adjustments, and touch-ups
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and property inspections
• Identify developing issues before they become larger repairs or guest problems
• Respond to maintenance issues that arise during guest stays
• Coordinate with the Yellow Door team regarding property access, scheduling, and repair priorities
• Recognize when a repair requires a licensed or specialized contractor rather than attempting work outside your qualifications
• Take clear before-and-after photos and document completed work
• Track labor time and materials used for each property
• Provide receipts when materials or supplies are purchased
• Create basic invoices and use simple technology/apps for scheduling, communication, and documentation
• Follow maintenance issues through to completion rather than simply identifying the problem

What We're Looking For

The right person is practical, resourceful, dependable, and comfortable working in occupied and unoccupied vacation rental properties. Because guest stays are involved, communication and follow-through are just as important as repair skills.

Candidates should have:

• Previous professional maintenance and/or handyman experience
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience with common residential repairs and installations
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
• Basic technology skills and willingness to use mobile apps for work orders, photos, communication, and documentation
• Ability to create and submit basic invoices
• Good communication and organization
• Attention to detail and respect for guest-ready properties
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with residential maintenance work

Schedule & Compensation

This is a part-time position averaging approximately 20–30 hours per week, with hours varying based on maintenance needs.

Pay: $20–$25 per hour, based on experience and skill level.

The position will include scheduled maintenance and preventive work as well as occasional time-sensitive issues at guest properties. Some evening and weekend availability will be required for scheduled on-call coverage.
