Job summary

Nelnet is seeking a UX/UI Front-End Engineer Intern to help maintain the Unifi Design System documentation site (unifi.nelnet.io) and convert content into machine-readable context for AI-assisted development tooling. You will collaborate with engineers and designers to learn how a design system is documented at enterprise scale.

Ideal candidates actively pursue a Bachelor's degree in CS/Web Development/Software Engineering, with coursework in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular, and familiarity

Qualifications

Coursework or personal projects with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular.
No professional/paid experience required.
Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
Strong written communication skills.
Comfortable asking questions and receiving feedback.
Basic understanding of WCAG is a plus.

Responsibilities

Maintain content on the Unifi documentation site (unifi.nelnet.io), updating docs to match the design system.
Convert design and accessibility guidelines into machine-readable formats for AI-assisted tooling.
Perform front-end maintenance on the documentation site (Angular).
Participate in code reviews and follow Git version control practices.
