Job summary

Orange Barrel Media is seeking a UX/UI Designer to shape internal and external tools our teams and customers rely on daily. This role sits at the intersection of design and software development: you’ll translate identified business needs into clear, buildable designs and help make sure everything we build looks and feels on brand.

You’ll report to a technical manager and work directly with our software development team day to day.

Qualifications

OBM is hiring a UX/UI Designer to help shape the internal and external tools our teams and customers rely on every day. This role sits at the intersection of design and software development: you’ll turn identified business needs into clear, buildable designs and help make sure everything we build looks and feels on brand.
You’ll report to a technical manager and work directly with our software development team day to day. You’ll also collaborate closely with our Product Manager to execute on business needs and with the Marketing team to keep our systems visually consistent.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the user experience for our internal and external tools, ensuring every screen, workflow, and asset is on-brand and consistent with OBM’s visual identity.
• Partner with Product Managers to translate identified business needs into user flows, wireframes, and polished designs that solve real operational problems.
• Build and maintain cohesive design systems and component libraries that keep our current and future tools visually and functionally consistent.
• Work directly with software developers throughout the build process, from early design through implementation, so designs are practical to build and design intent carries through to production.
• Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure product design decisions (color, typography, iconography, tone) stay aligned with OBM’s brand standards as they evolve.
• Participate in user research and usability testing led by Product Managers, contributing a design perspective and incorporating findings into your work before and after launch.
• Present design concepts to cross-functional stakeholders and incorporate feedback efficiently across iterations.

What You’ll Bring

• 4+ years of experience as a UX/UI or product designer, ideally including work on internal tools, enterprise software, or B2B platforms.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process, from early concepts and wireframes through final, polished UI.
• Experience building and maintaining a cohesive design system, with an eye for consistency and componentized design thinking. We care about the result, not which tools you use to get there.
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS. You don’t need to be a front-end developer, but you should understand what’s possible in the browser so your designs are realistic and you can collaborate effectively with developers.
• Comfort partnering directly with software developers, Product Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate ambiguous business needs into clear design solutions.
• Strong visual design skills and an understanding of how to apply brand guidelines across a digital product.
• Excellent communication skills — you can walk a room of non-designers through a design and explain the reasoning behind your decisions.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing for internal or operational tools in advertising, media, logistics, or a similarly operations-heavy industry.
• Experience working within, or helping establish, a formal design system or component library used across multiple products.
• Background working alongside a Marketing team to maintain brand governance across non-marketing surfaces.
