Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) in Arlington, VA is seeking a User Experience and Interface Design Intern to join the Integrated Mission Systems team. This on-site internship requires an active Secret clearance and 2-3 days in the office per week, with responsibilities spanning design systems, stakeholder communications, and deliverable creation.

The role emphasizes human-centered design thinking, curiosity, empathy, and creativity to deliver innovative solutions in a dynamic defense space.

Qualifications

Enrolled in an undergrad or grad program in HCI, Interaction Design, Graphic Design or related field.
Experience with digital design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite; bonus if Figma or Sketch is known.
Completed coursework or experience in human-centered design thinking and design patterns.
Knowledge of HTML/CSS or building interactive digital products.

Responsibilities

Contributes to and augments design system components and design patterns; documents use cases for future use.
Updates Figma designs based on stakeholder feedback and discovery.
Annotates Figma files with specs to ensure context for stakeholders.
Collaborates on solutions to 'How Might We' statements and builds solutions that meet user needs.
Revises prototypes after design screens are updated.
Creates IDT branded illustrations, pictograms, and icons as needed.
Participates in design and delivery reviews to align with mission objectives.
