Job summary

American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) is seeking a UX Engineer to combine front-end development, CMS delivery, and UX thinking into meaningful digital experiences.

You will translate designs into accessible HTML/CSS/JavaScript/TypeScript, build reusable components, collaborate with product and content teams, and prototype AI-assisted workflows while ensuring performance and accessibility across AAOS platforms. This hybrid role is based in Illinois.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in building responsive web apps or CMS-driven experiences.
• Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience building reusable UI components and templates.
• Ability to translate UX/UI designs into front-end and CMS experiences.
• Experience with accessibility and responsive design principles.
• Experience collaborating with nontechnical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive, accessible web experiences across AAOS CMS and platforms.
• Build reusable front-end components, templates, and patterns.
• Translate UX requirements into clean HTML, CSS, JS, and TS.
• Collaborate with backend engineers on CMS models, integrations, search, forms.
• Support debugging, code reviews, and documentation.
